  • Dr. Al Panjali

    Dr. Al Panjali,

    President & Course Director

    Dr. Panjali is a graduate of New York University. He received his post-graduate training in dental implants from Germany in 1992. In 2004, he continued his training in Implant Dentistry at New York University and has a Master's Degree in Oral Implantology, Goethe University, Germany.

    Dr. Panjali is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and Diplomat of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He has published several articles on immediate placement and grafting procedures. He is an active member of several dental organizations and has been lecturing on Dental Implants nationally and internationally since 1996.

    He has evaluated several leading implant systems and presents a versatile approach with innovative surgical techniques, providing a non-invasive conservative treatment in everyday dentistry. He has assisted in developing surgical instruments that have made surgical procedures easier for both dentists and assistants. Over the years, he has been developing surgical techniques that make immediate placement more predictably. He has successfully completed clinical trials of Immediate Placement in infected sockets and has developed a predictable protocol to achieve excellent results. He is the founder of the “no drill osteotomy” technique for surgical implant placement.

    He owns and operates an active private practice in Watertown and Syracuse with an emphasis on Implant Dentistry.
  • Dr. Joseph Choukroun

    Dr. Joseph Choukroun

    International Speaker & Inventor of Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

    Dr. Choukroun completed his degree in medicine in 1979 at the University of Montpellier, France. In 1981 he specialized in General Surgery & Anesthesiology from the University of Montpellier, France. He continued his study in Pain Management in 1986, University of Strasbourg, France.

    Dr. Choukroun is the owner of the Private Pain Clinic, Nice France. He is also the inventor of the Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) techniques: L-PRF, A-PRF & i-PRF and is President of the International Symposium on Growth Factors (SYFAC). He is well-published in some of the most respected international journals.
  • Dr. Asya Shor

    Dr. Asya Shor

    Clinical Instructor

    Dr. Asya Shor has received DDS degree from Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine and ICOI fellowship in implantology from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

    Dr. Shor practices in North Babylon, NY and works as a clinical Instructor at the New York Implant Institute.

    Dr. Shor is a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the Suffolk County Dental Society, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
  • Dr. Brian Barnhart

    Dr. Brian Barnhart,

    Endodontic Specialists

    Dr. Barnhart received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Grove City College in Northwestern Pennsylvania and his DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1998. Upon completion of school, he began practicing dentistry as an officer in the US Army and remained on active duty for nine years. During his time on active duty, he completed an Advanced Education Program in General Dentistry at Fort Lewis, Washington, was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry and obtained his Certificate of Endodontics at Fort Gordon, Georgia.

    Dr. Barnhart’s last assignment was Fort Drum, NY where he served as the Chief of Endodontics.  Dr. Barnhart is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and has presented numerous lectures on endodontics. He is currently attending dental residencies at both Upstate Medical University and St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York.

    Dr. Barnhart maintains a partnership with Endodontic Specialists, a group of endodontic practice, where he focuses on non-surgical and surgical endodontics as well as exodontia, grafting, and implantology.

    Dr. Barnhart and his wife, Kristen, have four young children. He enjoys a number of activities including skiing, running, playing guitar and digital photography.
  • Dr. Kalil Abraham

    Dr. Abraham holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. He’s also been awarded fellowships from the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. In addition to his academic training, Dr. Abraham is dedicated to expanding his knowledge and has taken many educational courses in cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, and orthodontics.

    Dr. Abraham is an active member of the dental community and holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the Detroit District Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He’s married with two daughters and loves to travel with his family.
  • Dr. Shahram Ghanaati

    Dr. Shahram Ghanaati,

    Professor

    Dr. Shahram Ghanaati has a triple doctorate in medicine, dentistry, and science (MD, DMD, PhD) from  Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz and Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. Germany. He has a degree of Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is leading the Head and Neck Oncology section at the University Cancer Center, Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. He is an Associate Professor at the Clinic of Oral, Cranio-Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery and a faculty member at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt. He is the Chief Senior Physician and Deputy Director of the Clinic.

    Dr. Ghanaati is an oncological plastic reconstructive surgery and implant surgery for head and neck cancer patients and carries out clinical teaching and histological research. He is an international speaker and lectures extensively on understanding tissue regeneration, the inflammatory pattern during biomaterial-based tissue regeneration and the use of PRF in dentistry and maxillofacial surgery.

    He has published over 90 papers in peer-reviewed journals and achieved an H-index of 20 (Web of Science) together with currently more than 250 impact points and has a series of translational studies (preclinical and clinical) with special focus on biomaterial-related cellular reaction and regeneration capacity.  He has extensively studied the inflammatory pattern and regeneration capacity of biomaterials with respect to different physio-chemical properties. He has performed research and accompanied the development of over 10 biomaterials from bench to the clinic and received 510 (k) in the USA for developing a biomaterial-based technique for extraoral skin regeneration.

    Dr. Ghanaati is a spokesperson of the German chapter of YSF (Young Scientist Forum) of the ESB (European Society for Biomaterials) and he has received the Isiah Lew Memorial research award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry in recognition of his important contribution to research in dental implantology.

    Presently, he is a research consultant for the world’s leading manufacturer of biomaterials.
  • Dr. Stephen Wallace

    Dr. Stephen Wallace

    Dr. Stephen Wallace is a 1971 graduate of Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry with a Certificate in Periodontics. He was on the faculty of the New York University Department of Implant Dentistry for 17 years attaining the academic rank of Associate Professor. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Columbia University Department of Periodontics. He is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and a Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration, currently serving as co-chairman of the Academy of Osseointegration committee for hands-on educational courses.

    Dr. Wallace’s time at New York University is divided between clinical teaching and human clinical and histologic research. He has helped develop the world’s largest database on sinus augmentation surgery. He has performed research studies on products from the world’s leading manufacturers of implants and bone regenerative materials and is presently involved in research utilizing pdgf-bb and BMP-2 in sinus augmentation surgery.

    Dr. Wallace lectures at home and abroad on issues relating to dental implantology and periodontics. He is the author of an evidence-based review of the sinus augmentation procedure published in the Annals of Periodontology and more than 30 journal articles and textbook chapters. He is co-editor, along with Dr. Tiziano Testori, of a textbook on sinus elevation surgery recently published by Quintessence that is now being published in 8 languages. In addition to his faculty appointment, Dr. Wallace maintains a practice for Periodontics, bone regeneration and implant dentistry in Waterbury, CT.
  • Dr. Elena Tsymbalova

    Dr. Elena Tsymbalova,

    Course Instructor

    Dr. Tsymbalova received her dental degree from St. Petersburg (Russia) State Medical University in 1996. After moving to the U.S., she graduated from Columbia University School of Dental Surgery and received her second dental degree. She completed her General Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center and is currently practicing in New York and New Jersey.

    In 2004, she received the Eleanor J. Bushee Award from the American Association of Woman Dentists for outstanding achievement and leadership.

    Dr. Tsymbalova has been practicing Implant Dentistry since 2004 and also has a special interest in Growth Factors use in Dentistry and Facial Esthetics.

    She is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and an active member of American Dental Association, New Jersey Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and American Academy of Facial Esthetics. She has been teaching Implant Dentistry in the New York University Implant Program since 2006 and is in constant search for the newest developments in dental in the medical field.
